Do you think I'd stand a chance if i tried out for say american idol or the voice?

I'd say go for American Idol. You may not make it to the show, but just getting to the Hollywood round can get you noticed by vocal coaches and people that can get you further in the music industry...because I guarantee you could make it past Round 1.
