Hi fellow seniors, have you ever made or tried homemade ice cream?

My family spent many a summer evening taking turns turning the crank, on our big wrap-around front porch, especially during June strawberry season becuase we grew our own berries. We always invited someone, ususally our grandparents who lived very close. If a neighbor drove by, my parents would wave them in and tell one of us kids to go get more bowls. We also had wild strawberries and although we didn't like stemming them because of their small size, they were the best. We made vanila and put the strawberries on top. In Nursing school, my surgery and pediatric instructors who lived next door to each other always had a homemade ice cream party for the student nurses in the summer. One made strawberry, the other made peach. It's just the best. Now I think I might buy one so my grandson can have the experience, but it will be electric.
